"In August of 2007 we stayed at the north camp on Max Lake. 4 out of 5 of us had never been fishing in Manitoba and it was an experience of a life time. We were able to catch 3 master angler fish and several 35'+ fish. The weather was great. The accommodations were great for an outpost that was 70 miles from anything. Max Lake held the Manitoba all-time Northern Pike record from 1992-2004. The monster was caught and released in '92 & it was 59 in. long! Longer than the World's Record! Max Lake is Manitoba's Premier Northern Pike Lake. Every season our guests at Max Lake catch more 45 inch plus Northerns than any other lake in Manitoba. Our guests catch hundreds of Master Angler Northerns (41 inches or longer) every season and have caught them up to 59 inches! There is also fast action fishing for Walleye's that will average around 3 lb. and up to 28 inches long.
We also caught the largest Pike in Manitoba in '97. It was caught and released at Max Lake in June. It measured 54 in. long and weighed 39 lb.!!
Monster Northerns like these are caught routinely on Max Lake - throughout the season. You will probably catch more fish in May & June. However, some of our largest Pike are caught in July, August, & September.
